Wow! The month of October absolutely flew by! As I mentioned a few weeks ago, I have been busy working away on the MBA prereqs and just not in the mood to blog. More on what I’ve been going through next week. But for now, I am going to do a quick post with my favorite finds for my 4 legged baby MIA.
#2 – Kibble Bubble Dog Treat Pouch: I got this so we always have treats & snacks on the go! (like mother like daughter) It holds quite a few treats & they surprisingly do not fall out. I just hooked it right to the leash/poop bag thing I carry.
#3 – Silicone Ice Cube Trays: This may seem weird to have on a dog list, but I use these to make homemade doggy breath mints! Just mix greek yogurt with fresh parsley & mint. I freeze them and make little cubes to give her for treats. They come with nice covers too. I originally had plastic ones and learned the hard way that those will break easily. These silicone ones make getting the cubes out easily!
#4 – Cloud Star Chewy Treats: I love these because they are so tiny & soft. I hide any pills/medicine for Mia on these & they are easy to carry on the go!
#5- CBD Oil: I have been getting Lazarus Naturals but once my current bottle runs out, I am going to try Hempworx … My lovely friend (Amanda) sells it & I am looking forward to trying! Here is Amanda’s link if you are interested: https://www.hempworx.com/sparkfiregreen
#6 – Sherpa Fleece Blanket (LOL): Another one that seems weird to have on a dog list but SERIOUSLY … Mia loves this thing! If your dog loves to get cozy, this is the perfect blanket!
#7 – Dog Bed: This is LEGIT the best dog bed ever. Sometimes I wake up and can’t find Mia in bed …. she is always burrowed deep into this thing!!
#8 – Nail Dremel: I do Mia’s nails @ home & this thing works wonders! I tried a few different ones before getting this one & they don’t even compare. I use it 2x a week & she does great with it. I love that you can recharge it & it actually takes length off her nails effortlessly.
So there’s that! If you are a fur parent, I definitely suggest checking some of these items out!
Just in time, on the last Friday of September! I feel like I’ve been finding all sorts of gems lately! I’ll share my top ten fun and/or practical purchases of the month. Everything is linked if you’re interested!
#1 – BATHROOM SPINNING TURNTABLE – I came across this on IG and I was in need of some organization in my bathroom cabinet. This is perfect! I keep my most used items in it for easy access. If you are tight on space this is a life saver!
#2 – OVER THE CABINET HANGING STORAGE – This was another great IG/Target find! It fits perfectly inside my cabinet in the bathroom. I keep my blow dryer, flat iron & curling iron in it. It created some extra shelf space as a result. Love it.
#3 – SILICONE FACE MASK BRUSHES – I purchased a tub of that Aztec healing clay to use for weekly face masks and it’s an absolute mess to put on and you don’t want it going down the drain because it will harden in your pipes. So I found these awesome silicone brushes that make applying the clay mask super easy. I just wipe it off with a wet paper towel after. I also figured out to make the clay mask in a ziplock so that you don’t have to clean a bowl out without getting the debris in your sink drain! Hack!
#4 – LONG SLEEVE SHIRTS – who doesn’t love a solid classic long sleeve! They are fitted and ribbed. I of course, bought in 3 colors. LOL.
#5 – CND VINYLUX NAIL POLISH – I have been giving my nails a break from gel & dip mani’s since July & painting them myself. This is legit the best nail polish ever. It goes on so smooth, lasts an entire week without chipping & dries super fast! Highly recommend. I just bought another one this week so now I have 3 colors to rotate between.
#6 – MAKEUP BOX – I think I came across this on IG but can’t totally recall. It’s amazing though. I do not want anything out on my bathroom counter. I like it to be clean & clutter free. I also hate makeup bags where you have to dig and can never find anything without dumping it all out. This is the perfect solution! And you can grab it & go when traveling. Highly recommend! You can also adjust the sizes of each compartment to make it your own!
#7 – PINK PUMPKIN – I am probably more excited than I should be about this! HA! I just hate like clunky ugly colored holiday decor. I know, I know. I got rid of most holiday items when I moved and only want a few things out to keep my place clean & simple. I spotted this on a target IG account and had to have it. It’s glass & the perfect shade of light pink!
#8 – ADIDAS NMD R1 PRIMEKNIT SHOES – My addiction with shoes will never die down. I just can’t help myself. These are the latest & greatest for me. I love them! They are actually men’s so I had to size way down but they fit fine! I like the off white creamy tan color a lot.
#9 – WOOL BLEND COAT – I have wanted this coat for awhile! I just love the color. Especially now that I’m a Corporate worker, I need some stylish coat options! Found this online @ the Gap Outlet.
#10 – PLATFORM SLIP ON SNEAKER – I set out to DSW a couple weeks ago to get a new pair of the Steve Madden platform slip ons but came across these babies on clearance for half the price, so decided to try them out. They are really comfy & I have received lots of compliments when I wear them to work.
So there you have it! A glimpse into the random stuff I order – HA! Who knows what next month will bring!?
If you follow me on IG you probably saw on my stories that I was greatly anticipating my DAILY HARVEST delivery this week. I have been seeing these beautiful little cups on social media & was highly intrigued. Basically, it’s a meal delivery service that provides you with fruit & veggie vegan meals that are completely ready for you. There is no cooking or chopping involved. I have tried other meal delivery services such as Hello Fresh & Blue Apron. While I liked not grocery shopping, I can’t say I was super impressed with the quality, variety & price of these services.
I looked into what these bowls actually were and I was pleasantly surprised with what I found. The company itself is committed to finding the best fruits & vegetables and preserving the nutrients until they make it to you! They are also committed to producing less food waste, which I like. They are able to take produce that usually is tossed because of its appearance and freeze it and you’d never know the difference. Each meal is frozen and will serve 1-2 people. The current options include snack bites, smoothies, harvest bowls, soups, oat bowls, chia bowls & lattes. Depending on what cup you order, you may need to add a liquid, blend, heat or refrigerate overnight. Everything comes frozen. By freezing the ingredients they are able to lock in freshness, even months after harvest, giving you access to summer’s best produce, even in the dead of winter.
Now you may be thinking why would you purchase pre-made fruit & veggie cups when you can easily go to the store and get the stuff yourself?! Well, I will give you my top 3 reasons why.
First, TIME & CONVENIENCE. I am at a point in my life right now where I want easy & convenient. I don’t want to go to the store and purchase several bags of frozen fruit and veggies and come up with combinations myself. Sometimes the store doesn’t have a great selection to offer either. Also, half of the time the fresh produce I buy goes bad because I don’t eat it in time.
Second, NUTRITIONAL VALUE. I want to have healthy options on hand that are super easy to throw together when I am on the go. These definitely satisfy that requirement. They are 98% organic and have a commitment to preserving nutrients and providing you with a quality healthy product.
Third, COST. When I do the math, these cups are worth it for me. They are a cost-effective way to have fruit & veggies but not have to worry about them going bad and buying several different kinds at once. You can choose how often you want these delivered. You can also choose how many you want. For my first time, I ordered a 9 pack. My thought was that I could see how I liked them and then stock up every couple of months and keep them in my freezer. I do not anticipate ordering these weekly. The smallest order is 6 cups of anything you want from their menu. That runs about $48 and it’s your lucky day because they gave me a $25 off coupon to share! So that brings you down to $23 for 6 cups. So roughly $3.83 per cup! When I get smoothies or healthy bowls from local health/wellness places they run me anywhere from $7 to $11. So to me, that speaks for itself. I will add the code down below if you want to try them out. There are no obligations and you can immediately cancel or choose to skip weeks.
I also found some really interesting information on their website about traditional fresh produce vs the daily harvest way of doing things. I made a little chart below with what I found:
I wasted no time digging in & trying some yesterday! They were really as easy as they claim. I dumped the frozen fruit into my blender, added some almond milk & bam! I had a delicious smoothie in a matter of seconds. I ordered 8 smoothies & 1 harvest bowl that I am excited to try as well.
If you want to give it a try, you can use my code for $25 off your first order. You can customize your package any way you want! If you do try it, be sure to let me know what you think! You can order on their website or download the app for easy access!
This month for my “Favorite Finds” post, I am sharing THE MOST COMFORTABLE SANDALS EVER! I am always on the hunt for shoes that are not only stylish & trendy but also comfortable! There is nothing worse than cheap, flimsy sandals that kill your feet. I stumbled across these beauties at DSW but I also looked online and Nordstrom Rack & Amazon sell them as well. I usually wear a size 7 and sized down to a 6.5 in these as they run sort of long. They for real feel like you’re walking on a cloud. I really love the back … they look really cute from behind. The platform adds a little height but it’s not too much by any means. I am going to wear them in Denver this weekend so I will give you an update on how they hold up!
I was so excited to see this trend make its way back into our lives! I am all about COMFORT when it comes to outfits. Wide leg pants, maxi dresses, sports bras, and of course yoga pants … those are my go-tos! Not sure how some people can rock jeans every single day … more power to them! Anyway, back to my excitement about this wide leg comfy pants trend! They totally remind me of those gaucho pants we used to wear in like middle school. Super wide, flowy and soft. I was unsure if I would find any that would fit me right, now that I am a grown woman and all (HA), but I did find TWO pairs that I love! I am pretty short (5’2 on a good day) so I definitely have to wear them with wedges but that’s okay!
The first pair I bought are from Target, I mean would you expect anything less?! #targetforlife (here is the link) I got an XS and they fit perfect. I am usually not a “navy” girl but the thought of wearing these with a burnt orange top sold me. SUPER CUTE.
I was randomly browsing TJMAXX the other week and found a second pair, which I obviously snatched up! These are black and white striped and look great with a black tee for work or a black tank. It may be harder to track these down since they are from TJ’s but still may be worth a look there to see if they have any in your size. The brand of these is “JOLT” and they are a size S.
So to say I am excited is an understatement! These are not only cute and comfy but also super functional and work appropriate. My eyes will be peeled for any more cute ones that I stumble into this summer!
I am back with round 2 of “Favorite Finds”! These eight items have been my latest purchases that I love! I will link the websites for each “find” so that all you have to do is click the title and you’ll be taken directly to where I ordered the product.
#1 – Universal Thread Sweater: $24.99 at Target. Majority of my wardrobe comes from Target. I am seriously obsessed. Even though the weather is warming up, these sweaters are perfect because they are super light and airy. I got in olive and mustard because when I find something I love, I MUST get it in multiple colors. HA. Don’t forget to use your RED CARD!
#2 – Skinny Dipped Almonds: $4 at Target. So I randomly heard about these on the “Almost 30” podcast and went directly to Target to grab a bag. They have a few different flavors but I went with the dark chocolate peanut butter ones. They are lightly coated with chocolate and a peanut butter powder. I liked how they were not super thick … there was just the right amount of chocolate covering the almond. If you order from the “Skinny Dipped” website you can use the code “Almost30” for 20% off.
#3 – Sally Hansen Miracle Gel Polish: $7.99 at Target. As part of my latest plan to save money, I decided to cut out pedicures. I couldn’t cut out mani’s …. I just can’t. But anyway, I did some research on gel polishes. I have a UV drying lamp but didn’t want to deal with all of that right now. So I found this stuff and have loved it. I got the “GET MOD” white color. It is a two-step process, with the color being step 1. You also need to purchase Step 2, which is the top coat. I use two coats of the color and then one top coat. It dries pretty quickly and went on super smooth. It has lasted a couple of weeks without any chips. I will definitely use this throughout the summer.
#4 – Patrizia by Spring Step Larissa Espadrille Platform Sandal: $49.99 at DSW. I am loving this current trend! I have lots of tall wedges but I wanted a pair that were more platform style with less heel. I was hesitant because the sizing is a bit weird but I read the reviews and went .5 size down and they fit perfectly. DSW always has a sale or coupon code so be sure to check!
#5: Blenders Rose Theater Sunglasses: $48 at Blenderseyewear.com. I think I honestly like these better than my expensive Ray Bans! They don’t have the metal prongs on the nose part which I like. They are super light weight and stylish … can’t go wrong! They always have 15% or 20% off coupons on their website.
#6: Siete Cashew Queso: $5.99 at Whole Foods. I was like beyond PUMPED to try this. I LOVE queso. I first tried the spicy blanco flavor and I wasn’t a fan of the texture for some reason. It wasn’t spicy at all either. Then I went back and got this mild nacho flavor and fell in love. It almost has a smoky nacho flavor. It is so good warmed up with tortilla chips. It’s literally completely dairy free and made from cashews. Its texture is very similar to traditional cheese based queso.
#7: Chooka Fremont Rain Boot: $49.99 at DSW. I was on the hunt this spring for a new pair of rain boots. What I liked about these, was the height. I am pretty short (5’2) so a lot of boots go all the way up to my knee. These, however, go mid-calf and I like that a lot. My previous rain boots were patterned so I was looking for a solid color this time around. These fit great and have kept my feet dry this spring!
#8: Knockout by Victora Sport High-rise 7/8 Tight: $69.50 at Victoria’s Secret. Don’t mind my face in this picture, HA. I was not planning on ever using this photo but as I am typing this post, I realized I have no picture of these except this one. Anyway, I was stoked about these because as a shorty I can never find leggings that I don’t have to roll. The 7/8 length is so perfect … fits me as normal leggings should. I absolutely love the VS sport leggings line. I have some I purchased 5 years ago that are in perfect condition. They never get little fuzz balls on them. I workout hard in them and they stay in place and have never ripped. They have POCKETS on both sides in addition to the typical waistband one. I went back and ordered the capris length too!
Well, that’s all folks! I am sure next month I will have more FAVORITE FINDS to share with you. Until then, let me know if you try any of these out!
You’ve probably caught on by now, to the fact that I love food! In addition to checking out local gems, I really enjoy cooking! I make most of my meals at home during the week and faithfully meal prep every Saturday or Sunday. I am always down for trying new recipes and have some favorites that I go back to again and again.
When recipe hunting I usually start with Pinterest. That is also where I keep my recipes organized. I have tried printing them out and three-hole punching them to store in a binder, but it’s just so much easier to just pull it up on my phone when I am in the kitchen. I always scan over the recipes to make sure most ingredients are clean and usually end up modifying most recipes to make some clean additions.
As I mentioned in my TOP EATS post, I have only eaten meat a handful of times in the last six months. I have felt this clean and lean feeling inside since removing meat from my diet. I love it! So most of my recipes are vegetarian-friendly. If I find a recipe that calls for meat but it sounds super yummy, I usually just substitute for a meat-free option. I love using beans, mushrooms, tofu, quinoa, and cauliflower to make meatless meals.
I am going to post below ten of my all time favorite recipes. The link to the actual recipe is linked in the heading … so just click on the name of the recipe and it will take you to a new website/blog to read the entire recipe. I will add any notes to indicate if I modified anything. In no particular order … my top ten favorite recipes:
1. MUSHROOM LASAGNA: This is an easy go to mushroom lasagna that tastes so cheesy and amazing! I usually get 4 large servings out of this recipe. Modifications: coconut or almond flour for the all purpose flour and almond milk for the heavy cream.
2. WILD RICE SOUP: I was obsessed with this soup this winter. It was a weekly staple in my life. It has a thicker consistency that regular soup and is just packed full of healthiness! You can be as creative as you’d like with this soup. Modifications: coconut or almond flour for the all purpose flour and almond milk for the regular milk.
3. SPICY VEGAN JAMAICAN JERK CAULIFLOWER TACOS WOTH MANGO SALSA:Who doesn’t love tacos?! There are so many variations that you’ll never get tired of them. These were my first cauliflower tacos I made and I quickly became obsessed. The jerk seasoning is awesome and you can make with the mango salsa mentioned in this particular recipe or just add your own toppings! Modifications: NONE!
4. QUINOA TACOS: I told you I love tacos! HA! These literally taste like regular ground beef tacos. They have that same cumin flavor going on. The texture is also really similar to beef. Modifications: NONE!
5. POTATO SOUP: This was also a winter staple for me. I had never really tried potato soup and then after making this one I was hooked! It literally tastes like mashed potatoes! It is a little thicker than a regular soup I would say. I liked that there was no heavy cream involved – just some cream cheese instead. I also loved how this was a crock pot recipe … score! Perfect for simmering on a Sunday. I used an immersion blender for the first time when making this and I was in love with that thing too! HA! Modifications: NONE!
6. SPICY THAI NOODLES: This has been one of my go to recipes for several years now. I never get sick of it. I also make homemade wontons (upper right photo) to go along with this dish. I did try making this once with chickpea linguine noodles and it didn’t go too well. It was so thick and it just didn’t taste right. I would stick to regular pasta noodles for this one. Modifications: liquid aminos for the soy sauce.
7. ROASTED RED PEPPER RIGATONI: I came across this recipe more recently and have already made it four times. You could easily add in a protein but I have enjoyed it as is so far. It’s so cheesy and has a unique sauce taste. Modifications: almond milk for the half and half.
8: VEGETARIAN CAULIFLOWER WINGS: I have tried to make cauliflower wings a few times in the past and I just wasn’t sold, until I found these babies! These are also made weekly in my kitchen! They are so easy and SO good. Modifications: coconut or almond flour for the all purpose flour, almond milk for the regular milk and I split the sauce 1/4 cup buffalo and 1/4 cup bbq.
9. SPCIY SHRIMP TACOS: Wow, tacos made the list three times! Not surprised. They are just so easy to make during the week and meal prep for work week lunches. These are awesome because of the creamy sriracha sauce and cilantro lime slaw! It claims it will serve four people but I would say more like two in reality! Modifications: NONE!
10. TOASTED GNOCCHI: This is another more recent find that I can’t get enough of. It’s super easy and quick to throw together on a week night. I personally can’t get enough when it comes to gnocchi and mushrooms … so this is a match made in heaven! Modifications: NONE!
I will update you all in a couple months with some new finds but for now, enjoy these! Let me know if you try any of them!
